update on the 2021 Cuba Motorcycle Mission Trip

Dear Friends and Family,

 Our Cuba mission trip was postponed for January 2021 due to new COVID-19 protocols from the Cuban government. Our team leaders have been receiving information as it becomes available and are working on our revised trip plan. Some basic information:

  • Cuba has reduced the number of international flights arriving from other countries.
  • Cuba requires that all tourists arriving in Havana, have a negative test for Covid, within the 72 hours prior to arrival in Cuba.
  • Upon arrival in Havana, everyone will be tested for Covid. It takes from 24-48 hours for test results to be received. If anyone tests positive, they will be quarantined and sent home. If we all test negative, we are free to go on our tour and not require any more tests.
  • Due to the 48-hr turnaround time for the test, it will require an extra day in Havana.

 Based on this info, we are looking at a trip date beginning February 11, 2021 and ending on 02-20 or 02-21! We are also looking at airline schedules to see if all of this will work. As you might guess, it is difficult getting good answers from the airlines as they try and figure out what they can do!

 But I am extremely excited to have the opportunity to serve as a volunteer mission team member to Cuba. I will be on a team of seven other individuals affiliated with the F.A.I.T.H. Riders Motorcycle Ministry. We are going to the island nation of Cuba to minster to the physical and spiritual needs and generally support the people there. We will be participating in community events such as a several bike washes at local chapters. There will be other mini events each day. And as we go along our route we will attract a lot of attention as we travel, and this will give us the opportunity to share a gospel message. Most of the interactions will be small groups because of the communist government restrictions and because of the new Covid protocols. We are also bringing small personal hygiene gifts to offer the local people and we are bringing some needed essentials for the local churches.

 I sincerely believe that God has called me to be a part of this mission team. My personal financial responsibility to cover the cost of the trip has not yet been met.  On the memo portion of the check please note “Cuba Mission Trip” specify if towards an individual (ERIC) or general funding. If I receive any financial support for this mission trip exceeding my personal needs it will be allocated to helping other team members participate or toward the general missional expenses such as tracts, Spanish Bibles, supplies, etc. Further, and in the event that I cannot go on this mission trip for some unforeseen reason, all funds donated on my behalf will go toward the trip for other team members or for the general mission expenses.
